View art in a "user-friendly" environment. "Art with Heart" May 17th- June 7th, 2008 an open-theme, all media exhibition of art in the AQA Gallery in Forest Hills**************** Sunday, May 4th, 10am-4pm in the Alley between 66th Road & 67th Ave, in Rego Park - lamps, tools, tapes, frames, games, glassware, collectibles, etc. **************** ![]() Create an artistic archival journal of your life in our newest workshop. Personal History Archiving Program. The Alliance of Queens Artists will conduct a series of personal journal preparation workshops at the AQA Gallery, in Forest Hills. Participants will create a "personal history archive" by organizing their own documents, photos, etc. through the use of various illustrating, scrapbooking and archiving techniques. Participants will reconnect to their past and take pride in the world they helped to shape. Three (3) workshops (once a week for 2 hours each) will allow the participants to complete their personal archive journals. They may then be scanned into digital format for the Personal History Archives "virtual gallery" on the AQA website. This "virtual gallery" will be advertised to various locations such as local schools, libraries and other senior center who will be encouraged to take part in future AQA projects.Although not limited to seniors, we are hoping that many seniors who lived through the Great Depression and World War II will participate in this project. They experienced hardships most of us can scarcely imagine. In the past, these stories were passed on through oral storytelling. This will no longer suffice in the Internet age. The AQA realizes we cannot afford to lose our seniors personal histories, which are apart of our heritage and society. Young people will be able to study first hand accounts of history that they should be studying in school. We can all learn to record our own histories and take stock of our own lives. Physical journals will be on display in several venues and the AQA website will allow the entire world to examine the personal histories of Queens seniors and how they fit into the bigger picture of history. **** Auction/Charity Art Donations: You Can Do Good and Be A Star! - by musician and artist Denise DJak" Jaklitsch **** Are you a community-minded artist interested in being part of an organization that works to bring art back to the public?
